Our Anniversary

In October, we celebrated our 14th anniversary! We all went out for dinner and had a great time. This photo is one of my favorites. The kids were really getting into the anniversary. They were celebrating with us and told us how much they love us and they are glad we're their parents. Well, we are too!

Hawaiian Party

The Johnsons hosted a Hawaiian party for their friends that came in September from England. Some highlights...

Sorry... I guess I don't know how to flip these photos once they are in here!

Wichita Visit

I had so much fun seeing my friends from Wichita earlier in September. It was raining cats hard but it was nice to see familiar faces I miss so much. Thanks for coming out! Here's some great photos from that night. We were happy to have Susan Cherches visiting us from Phoenix.

Tailgating Highlights

Tailgating season is almost over! We only have one home game left. Here are some highlights from tailgates of this season.

KU lost to Nebraska

What a bummer! We paid $20 for pay-per-view too! Here's a funny one of Marina. She was sweating as usual while she slept so I was able to make her into a nice mohawk. I guess I'll call this the Jayhawk.

Additional Photos

Jett and Marina trying out their rubber lips they got from Grandma JJ. Hilarious!

Election Day 2008. We all dressed patriotic. And we went and cashed in a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich with my "I Voted" sticker! We also got a free patriotic donut earlier that morning! Is this a great country or what?

Halloween

Jett and Mark do the first pumpkin carving ever! I hate carving pumpkins but Mark was a good sport because Jett really wanted to. It turned out pretty good. Jett did more scooping of the pumpkin than cutting.

Jett was Annikin Skywalker. I have no idea how to spell Annikin. But that's what he wanted to be. It's from Star Wars Clone Wars. The mask was pretty coool. He loved wearing it! This was at Jett's school on Halloween.

We hosted the Saddlebrooke Neighborhood Halloween Party. It was loads of fun! Here are some good photos from that day! Thank goodness mom was in town to help me. We had lots of fun setting up the haunted garage.

Franky is ready to scare in the "Haunted Garage."

Here is a game... pumpkin agility test. I had a 4-foot inflatable pumpkin that they weaved in and out of the cones. This was great until about 20 kids decided to jump on the pumpkin. I thought it'd pop for sure. I should have gotten a photo of that but didn't. The good news is that the pumpkin survived for another Halloween!

Marina wore her costume at the Lake Quivira Halloween Party. Unfortunately, she didn't wear it on Halloween.

This photo was taken from "Trunk-Or-Treat" at Jett's school. It was on the 17th and Jett wore his Spiderman costume. Our neighbors are here with him.

Jett's Birthday

We had lots of fun for Jett's birthday. He had a 10-day celebration! First, the mom and dad came up and we tailgated at Seth's house for the Texas Tech game. Unfortunately, KU got beat! Then, Jett's birthday party at school, then that night with friends. And then the Johnsons came up. So he got lots of great stuff. Here are some highlights from his birthday!

Superhero's Birthday! The theme was Batman.

I thought I could make the Batman cake, no problem. Whew! That was work! There are 3 cakes in there!! And the original frosting turned out green. So we have a layer of army green frosting (I thought I could turn chocolate frosting black by adding blue food coloring). It looked so bad I went to Hobby Lobby for black food coloring. Much better but there was a TON of frosting on this puppy! The kids were buzzing big-time on the sugar!
Cyan came with Aunt Christie and Grandma JJ and Grandpa Stevie. They had so much fun together! Here, she's helping Jett open his new footbal jersey.
This photo was taken awhile ago at Grandma Jo-Jo's. I think it turned out great so included it.

Grossly Outdated!

Sorry that I haven't updated this in awhile. Boy, it's almost embarrassing that the last update I have is Marina's birthay in July. What happened to August and September? I haven't uploaded any photos in quite some time. So I'll get on that soon. Then update this. I have to be ready for Jett's birthday coming up next week!

2 weeks without a camera

I left my camera in Wichita! So I have nothing to post. When I get it back, I'll be sure to post our photos from our vacation in Angelfire. Stay tuned!

Birthday Fun!

We had lots of fun for Marina's birthday. I think she was birthday'd out by the time it ended. We started on Friday, taking the kids to a play at Crown Centre, compliments of Matt and Carrie Jordan. It was our Christmas present! Here's Marina standing on stage.... Jett thought she was going to have to perform since it was her birthday but that wasn't the case. We also went to dinner at Fritz's there... they delivered our food by train car! Everyone got a train hat to wear.

The next day was the big party... family, friends, food and lots of presents!

July 5th - Still Fun!

First of all -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAMMA JJ!
Today is July 5th. Our friends, the Mudgetts, were in the Mario Andretti Racing School today. It was Rusty's Christmas gift from his wife, Kristin, to learn how to drive a racing car on the Kansas Speedway. We went to watch.
Here is Jett and Sam enjoying some time in the pit.

Rusty in his cool racing outfit, waiting for his car.

Then Mark decided he would do a ride-along. Jett was sad because he couldn't drive in the car. Marina was excited to watch him ride. Mark got to ride 3 laps in the LOWE'S racing car. He road with a professional driver who said they were reaching speeds around 175 mph! Here is MJ with his helmet, in the car, doing a lap!

A photo as we were leaving of the two types of cars you could drive/ride.

Jett and Marina settled for these rides instead of the big ones that Mark did!

Fireworks & More

We had a great evening on Lake Quivira. There were lot of folks out there. Our friends invited us to their dock for boating and fun. Mark and I remembered where we were watching the fireworks last year... not far from his hotel in KC because we were looking for houses over the long weekend. We were here last year as visitors ... now this is our home. Glad we found such a beautiful place to live.

Jett caught a big one!

I could show you my lousy attempts at taking firework photos but instead I'll show you this one. I love the way the glow of the fireworks is reflecting off of them. It was red, as you can tell. This setting is called "candlelight" so it's not as clear but I still love this photo. Marina was ready to sleep but stayed up for the whole thing! Jett made it too but slept through the first few minutes. We had a wonderful 4th of July! Hope you did too!

Happy 4th Part 2

Man, we dominated that parade! Check out our prizes!!
